ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

We have had a long history here in Inverell, dating back to 1878.

We are a fairly diverse church community. Farmers, retirees, tree changers, teachers, professionals, local business owners, pensioners, tradies, single mums, children, and teenagers have all called St. Augustine's home at some stage in our history, and still do today.

We believe in a God who has revealed himself to us through his Son, Jesus Christ, and speaks to us through his word - the Bible. The Bible is therefore central to everything we do. We hope you feel warmly welcomed and we look forward to getting to know you.

All about Jesus

In everything we do, we seek to be on about Jesus. We want to honour him, listen to him, and introduce people to him. We believe that Jesus’ death in our place, and subsequent resurrection, offers forgiveness of sins and a new relationship with God both now and into eternity. We are an evangelical church and we seek to make the Gospel of Jesus our focus in everything.

Vision

Our vision is to:

  • Grow individually in Christ

  • Build the body of Christ

  • Reach our community for Christ

Core values

These are the things we value as a church:

  1. Biblical Teaching - The word of God is our ultimate authority in life and faith.

  2. Prayer - In everything we have a prayerful dependence on God.

  3. Godly Service - A love for one another is expressed through Christ-like sacrificial service.

  4. Discipleship - We want to see people growing in God-honoring relationships with Jesus.

  5. Outreach - We want our broken world to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus.
